did both the Lenox Crater trail and the Lava Flow trail when we
stopped. The Lenox Crater trail was quite steep, but otherwise a very
easy trail. The 'bowl' at the top was quite impressive, and the gray
ground was very different from what we were used to. The Lava Flow
trail wasn't nearly as steep and was very neat trail. It was
quite informative and very interesting.
- Sunset Crater and Wupatki make a great two park stop. The two parks are close enough to do both within an afternoon.
- Hiking the main Crater is no longer allowed. Apparently there was too much damage to the environment by hikers.
